My name is Aaron Derouin and I have a passion for evidence-based kinesiology. I was initially accredited by the BCAK as a Registered Kinesiologist in 1999. I have over 25 years of experience as a personal trainer, kinesiologist, ergonomist, and movement scientist.

I have worked with novice to professional athletes to enhance sports performance at the Human Performance Centre (Burnaby, BC) and Kinetics Fitness (Windsor, ON). In masters-level graduate work completed in 2006 at the University of Windsor, I validated the efficacy of functional knee braces in providing increased joint rotational stiffness to anterior cruciate ligament deficient and reconstructed knees.

In 2012, I was accredited as a Certified Professional Ergonomist through the U.S. Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics. In relation to ergonomics and human factors, I have several diverse experiences over a period of 15 years in various roles including Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI), Caterpillar (Peoria, IL), and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (Ottawa, ON).

In more recent years, towards the completion of my doctorate in Occupational Biomechanics at Queen’s University, I worked as a National Research Council Canada (NRC) Aerospace Research Engineer and was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Human Vibration Laboratory within the Centre for Air Travel Research.

I enjoy spending time with my two wonderful daughters and playing basketball, squash and riding my mountain bike. I truly believe that Exercise is Medicine!
