Nicole grew up as a high-performance athlete in White Rock playing volleyball and soccer. Her passion for sports and exercise is what drove her to pursue the field of kinesiology. Nicole completed her Bachelor of Human Kinetics from the UBC Okanagan and her Masters of Kinesiology at UBC Vancouver focusing on Clinical Exercise Physiology and Sport Science. During her time at UBCO, Nicole worked in a Pediatric Exercise Physiology Research lab studying the impacts of prolonged sitting and exercise on brain health. Outside of school, she also spent time with Interior Health’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program as well as the City of Kelowna’s Community Access Match program. In these programs, Nicole worked with C.O.P.D., stroke, and Parkinson’s Disease affected patients to improve their cardiorespiratory fitness and strength through exercise- where she gained a passion for helping those with chronic disease and other health conditions to improve their quality of life and reduce disease burden. During her time at UBC Vancouver, Nicole was a graduate teaching assistant in the school of Kinesiology and also was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach with the UBC Thunderbirds varsity athletics program. Nicole is excited to apply exercise and movement science to encourage well-being, manage chronic disease, rehab injuries, and restore optimal function to patients through active rehabilitation.
